National Menorah Lighting

This grand event features the illumination of a towering 30-foot menorah, accompanied by performances from Military Bands of the Military District of Washington and often a celebrity Jewish artist. The ceremony also highlights the “Mendy Deren National Menorah Essay Contest,” where winning students read their essays on the meaning of Hanukkah.
